Hey love, welcome back to the Mindset Shifts for Moms podcast. Today is our quick take action episode. If you've been stuck waiting for the perfect moment, perfect time, energy, mood, weather, coffee order, this one's for you. So if you listen to the podcast episode on Friday, we're talking all about all or nothing thinking. So let's talk about why you're not lazy, you're not broken.

and how to get unstuck in just 10 minutes every single day. So this is your reminder that your brain is just trying to keep you safe. Like, here's the deal, your brain craves certainty. And not because it's trying to sabotage you, but because it's really trying to protect you. Because when things feel uncertain, your brain literally reacts as if you are in danger. And then the uncertainty triggers the fear center.

which is called the amygdala, but when something feels familiar or certain, your brain releases dopamine and that feels like a reward. So it's not that you're lazy or unmotivated, you're just conditioned to wait until it feels safe. And that's a survival mode. Not in the way we're thinking like, my God, survival mode, know, today I was in my survival mode as a mom just getting by, but survival mode as in our brain is trying to make sure that we do survive.

by keeping us safe. But here's the truth, waiting for perfect is the least safe thing that you can do for you, your dreams, your family, whatever it is that you are trying to get to. So we really want to try and reframe these patterns, which is always, of course, started with the awareness. So this episode, the episode before, it's your awareness. Like your brain does this. So.

You have to reframe it. You have to change it. So let's try these phrases, okay? Instead of feeling like, I got nothing done today when you truly did, but it just wasn't everything you wanted. Some is better than none. I only got to wash the laundry today. I didn't get to fold any of it. My laundry room's a mess. Like, okay, I don't need to be perfect. I just need progress, and I made progress. Or, I don't need clarity to begin.

When you start taking action, action creates clarity. And that's something I listened to a podcast about this. And she was talking about.

the, I don't know, our cultural need for clarity, I guess. That's like a buzzword, right? We need clarity. We need to know what it is before we start. We need to know the how, what, where, why. But that's not how you get the clarity. You, clarity only comes when you start taking action because, okay, you sent this email. It creates.

It creates more opportunity. creates you to see, I just sent the email to them. I should actually send it to this person too. And then you do. And then you're like, my God, wouldn't it be cool if we could all do this project? Okay, we're gonna do this. Like when you start taking action, you get like, it's like the yellow brick road. Like it just, it just starts opening up for you, right? Once you start moving.

So you don't have to fix everything. You just have to do one thing today, like for your future goals or self. Obviously you gotta do all your mom's stuff and your work stuff, if you work. But one thing today that will help you reach a goal, your dream life, whatever it is. So here's your challenge. One imperfect step, that's it. So this isn't even writing an email and sending it. This is just writing the...

you know, the subject and the first few lines of your email that you want to send. Because remember, it just saves it as a draft anyways. You can come back to it and you've started, you've created, started building that momentum. I don't know if you are wanting to start a business or a podcast, like record the first 30 seconds or minute of your idea. Get your phone out, use the record app and literally just start talking about your idea.

This gets it out of your brain into a piece and you're like, wow, okay, I started that.

Do one load of laundry, not the entire house of laundry. We're not gonna get all the bedding done today. We're not gonna get all the curtains, all the stuff that's never done as much as you want. Just do one load. If you want to start meditating or visualizing, which is super powerful to manifest, just sit and pay attention to your breathing for two minutes.

I know it sounds like a lot, but I also know for my brain, I always thought, what a waste. Like I'm gonna sit there for two minutes, it's not gonna do anything. Like I'm gonna have to do it all the time. And that's just annoying, right? Cause I always wanted things now. I want it and I want it now. And if that's you, that's another all or nothing, right? Sit and breathe for two minutes. Just set a timer. Play a meditation on Spotify, you know?

They have really cool ones for like healing energy, loving aura, like all these things. But you have to remember that momentum builds from those little steps and it's momentum over perfection every single time. So I just, really want you to come up with a mantra for yourself to just, it maybe, kind of makes, it's like a trigger for you, okay? So it triggers you to be like, okay, no.

We're not doing this. So anytime you start thinking like, I don't, you know, I don't have time to do this. I'm going to just not. And you're like, no, I'm not doing that.

You can, here's a few examples of mantras, okay? So like, my worth is not tied to productivity, or I can do great things even in small ways. I'm a large, large, I am allowed to start messy.

Guys, I know it sounds so simple, but I feel like we often, think because it's simple, it won't work. When it's the opposite, if it's something that you repetitively do, it will work incredibly in your life, okay? So what's one thing you're gonna do today? I want you literally to do it in the next hour if you're not at work. I mean, I know that you're at home with the kids, you're working.

Okay, I'm not saying that, but try to do it in the next hour or two. Let this be the day that you stop waiting and just start showing up for yourself because it's for you, okay? And I just want you to know that I'm proud of you already. Like you've got this and I'm always cheering you on. You're here, you're listening, you have the awareness now and you wanna do the work and I'm just literally proud of you.
